We're cycle-delic.

Algona--I can't even begin to explain the intricacies of this town. First off, it has a theme--"That '70's Town". They even had a contest to see who could make his or her yard the most "'70's themed". Who does that? Apparently these people. (See Monika in our host house.) (Monika: What exactly is a 70s themed yard?) Good question, Monika. And from the looks of the town social calender, Algona is a lot like the fictional Stars Hollow of Gilmore Girls--there are little fairs and festivals all the time. Hell, there's a flag burning ceremony next week. Maybe we should go.

As for RAGBARI, Mel and Fish have been real troopers. They even insist on finding the houses themselves. (This is probably a good thing, as I wouldn't really plan on picking them up.) AND WE ARE GOING TO DAIRY QUEEN!

  1. Careful on the 70s bashing. I am a 70s child..ok, it wasn't exactly the most fashionable decade, but we did have fun. The clothes were big and loud, we wore are elephant size bellbottoms that dragged on the ground, the grungier the better (I guess the pants hanging off the ass today should be tolerated) our hair was long and straight, everyone knew who the Cowsills were, the drinking age was 18 (Hey if we could fight in wars, we should be able to drink ourselves into stupors and then vote!), Nixon was president and we HATED it (Mom never forgave Dad for voting for Nixon, the subject of many dinner fights) the cars were BIG with BIG high-powered engines so we could SQUEAL the tires while driving the drag until the new tires on the Bonneville were bald (sorry, Dad, yes that was me), we sneaked out of the house at night and drank beer (and yes Dad, I stole the beer out of the pantry, not Stephen, who took the blame for me) - and we drank it warm, it was alcohol, and that was all that mattered...and while the 70s were going on and we had fun, Melanie had her nose stuck in a book...until the 80s when she learned about fun. There's more, but that's all I'll 'fess up to....love you all! Aunt Sue
